Hong Kong, Riyadh 10 May 2024: Saudi Tadawul Group concluded the first international edition of the Capital Markets Forum, in partnership with HKEX, held in the vibrant city of Hong Kong. Offering global investors and issuers a unique opportunity to engage and collaborate with Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong’s capital markets, the inaugural international Capital Markets Forum took place under the theme of “Powering Connections”.

Underpinned by the desire to enhance cooperation and integration between Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong’s capital markets, the event welcomed over 650 attendees. Additionally, the forum brought together representatives from Asia’s leading exchanges, and financial experts from across the globe, and served as a crucial bridge to discuss some of the major trends and challenges in the capital markets ecosystem. Alongside the forum’s panel sessions and discussions, the Saudi Tadawul Group organized a comprehensive corporate access roadshow. Facilitating over 1,000 meetings between investors and issuers, the roadshow effectively showcased a wide range of investment opportunities across Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, and Mainland China.

Commenting on the conclusion of the inaugural international Capital Markets Forum, Khalid Al Hussan, Saudi Tadawul Group CEO said: “The Capital Markets Forum has not only built upon the success of the Saudi Capital Market Forum but has also solidified its position as a globally leading capital market conference. Moving forward, the Capital Markets Forum will help catalyze growth and set the stage for more integrated capital markets.”

HKEX Chief Executive Officer, Bonnie Y. Chan, said: “CMF Hong Kong marks a significant step in furthering the strategic alliance between STG and HKEX, following the MOU the two exchanges signed in 2023. This inaugural international edition of CMF therefore not only underscores Hong Kong’s status as a leading international financial centre, but also fully aligns with HKEX’s ongoing commitment in strengthening dialogues, mobilising capital, and supporting innovation. After years of building connections with the Middle East, we are now in a strong position to move exploratory conversations to tangible results, between investors and corporates.”

At the event, Saudi Exchange and Sahm Capital announced a partnership to collaborate on the Invest Wisely platform –a groundbreaking financial literacy initiative designed to empower participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to become successful investors. Sahm Capital, established in 2021 is a joint venture between Valuable Capital Group Ltd and eWTP Arabia Capital. Following the success of the inaugural event and in collaboration with international exchanges that include HKEX, the Capital Markets Forum is set to expand its reach globally. The next edition is planned to be in February 2025, in Riyadh, underscoring the Capital Markets Forum’s growing importance as a platform for international exchange and dialogue.
